Junior Golf - How to Effectively Prepare For Matches After School
Junior Golfers playing on High School Golf and Middle School Golf teams face a challenging situation.
Immediately rushing out after being in class all day - is not the typical recipe for GOLF...
SUCCESS.
These Junior players must take extra care to prepare themselves properly.
The Players I know, who consistently do well in this harried situation - adhere to the following habits.
Physically - I suggest players stretch in the car or van as they travel to the course.
Legs, backs, shoulders, hands and wrists and other muscles of the body can effectively get stretched in this manner.
Thus, the Player need not take valuable time at the course to do this.
He/she can then do other valuable things to prepare once they arrive.
Mentally - in the car - Players can think about - and maybe even talk about - among themselves, the course and the various challenges it will present that particular day.
A Player can also finalize their game plan for the round - which clubs and shots are best-suited for which holes.
They can also visualize those shots as they travel to the competition.
Physically - when they arrive - the most important thing to get, for most players, is the speed of the greens that day, by putting many longish putts across the green.
Secondly - they will do well to warm up their Full Swing by hitting some balls, or, at least making many slower, then faster, practice swings.
Mentally - when they arrive - they should confirm; who they will be paired with, what tee markers they will play, and what Rules contingencies may come into play that day.
