What is Savings Bond Wizard?

• Savings Bond Wizard is a computer application offered by the United States Treasury through their website TreasuryDirect. The website allows investors to buy a range of bonds and Treasury securities directly from the United States government. The Savings Bond Wizard program tracks the financial health of each bond you buy and the bond's current rate. Date Display Problems

• Sometimes, Savings Bond Wizard will not display the dates on the bonds you have entered into the program correctly. This display error may show dashes between the numbers of the date on the bond or prevent users from entering the bond's issue date. Problems in Windows Vista

• The Savings Bond Wizard program may run into some issues when installed on a machine running the Windows Vista operating system. If the program will not run or won't display properly, right-click on the Savings Bond Wizard program icon. Click on "Properties." Click on the tab marked "Compatibility," then check the box next to the option labeled "Run This Program as an Administrator." Bond Rate Problems

• At times, the Savings Bond Wizard program may display the letters "NA" in the place where the bond's rate is supposed to be. This means the bond's rate is unavailable. This means the program needs to be updated to reflect changes in bond market prices. To do so, click "Tools." Click "Redemption Values..." Click on "Automatic Update." Once updated, you will then need to change the price date of your bond inventory to a previous date, then change it back to "Price for Today." The program will recalculate bond rates using the updated bond prices you downloaded.
