The city offers a variety of pet-friendly parks and beaches for individuals who are visiting the area or those living in the region. There are spots that require a leash and others that have a no leash policy. Each destination welcomes all pets with open arms and only ask that owners obey the rules and guidelines that are posted.
  
  

Cadman Park Leash-Free Area

• Cadman Park, located on Avati Drive, offers a leash-free zone where pets can freely run about. Park hours are 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., except for Saturday mornings during little league season and on the Fourth of July.The park has set up a variety of rules for pets including that all animals must be on leashes to and from the zone, aggressive pet behavior is not allowed, animals under the age of 4 months are not recommended, parents must supervise children who accompany a pet and pets are never allowed on the athletic field. Anyone found violating the rules will endure revocation of leash-free privileges.

Fiesta Island

• Fiesta Island is a piece of land that is located in Mission Bay. There are a variety of activities that take place on the island and dogs are allowed to play without a leash on the five-mile asphalt path that goes around the island. Hours for activities are from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. each day.

Ocean Beach Hotel

• Ocean Beach Hotel is a good choice for visitors traveling to San Diego with pets in tow. The hotel welcomes pets and is located a few blocks from a pet friendly zone known as Dog Beach. There is no additional fee for pets and there are special pet friendly patio rooms available. As of August 2010, a pet friendly suit with a queen size bed, costs $119.95 per night.
