How to Troubleshoot Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator Joystick Problems
- 1). Check the cable connection running from the joystick to the computer. If the cable is not inserted completely into the computer the computer is not going to detect the joystick movements.
- 2). Install the drivers for the joystick. Without the drivers some computers are unable to understand the controller. Insert the driver installation CD into the disc drive of the computer, then follow the remaining prompts to complete the hardware setup.
- 3). Exit out of Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator if you switched from one joystick to another while the software was still running. The computer reads both joysticks at the same time and prevents the new connection from working. Exiting out of the game, then restarting it fixes the issue.
- 4). Debut the joystick if the controller seems to loose functionality during gameplay. Select "Settings" from the main menu, then choose "Controller Assignments". Click "Joystick Type" and choose the joystick you have connected to the system. Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator is now ready to begin using your connected joystick.
