TRAVEL TO THAILAND

Koh Samet is a beautiful, small, unspoiled island some 6 kilometers South of the coast of Ban Phe, about 20 kilometers South of Pattaya ("Koh" means "Island" in Thai), and is one of the most attractive islands, declared as one of the National Parks in Thailand, where people are not allowed to buy property. It occupies 11 acres of landscaped hillside and beachfront by the Gulf of Thailand.

There are three ways to travel to Ban Phe, by bus, car or taxi, and by air, which is 45 minutes from Bangkok Airport to Utapao Airport, Sattahip Naval Base, a short distance from Ban Phe.

Due to the fact that Koh Samet is designated as a nature reserve ever since 1981, it creates a great atmosphere for people to relax and to play on the beach or in the ocean, under the bright stars and clear evening skies.

It is accessible by a low-cost, slow passenger boat or a more expensive speed boat, where the former journey takes about an hour and the latter about 20 minutes.

One of the several clean, white, sandy bays on Koh Samet with its crystal clear water has a resort called Ao Wai ("Ao" means "Beach.") Villa #32 is at the end of a delightful promontory, where its balcony overlooks the peaceful bay and the very clean sea is at a pleasant temperature. There is a small restaurant in the center of the Samet Ville Resort, serving delicious Western and Thai food.

Samet Ville Resort has 44 bungalows and is the perfect vacation hideaway for couples, retreats and families, and the ideal retreat for sun, sea and nature-lovers, and those seeking a complete escape from the distractions and pressures of life.

Experience a world of relaxation in the low density rustic beachfront and immerse yourself in splendid isolation on the unspoiled beaches of Samet Island.

Sea view hillside cottages enjoy the natural beauty of a spectacular setting. The pristine beach and heavily forested site is ideal for a family vacation and romantic getaway.

If you visit this in the high season, November to February, there will be many people there, however in the other seasons you will find it fairly quiet except at the weekends when many Thai visitors from Bangkok visit the island. The high season is sunny and dry, and resembles the best of European and North American Summer Days. The two other seasons are the hot season from March to June, and the rainy (monsoon) season from July to October.

Great for families, where there are banana boats, jet skis, snorkeling, fishing and Thai massages to enjoy.

I thoroughly recommend it for those who would like to have some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
