  Sauk Centre may not be as large as some of Minnesota's other resort destinations, but outdoor options abound. All of the resorts in the area are on lakes, making activities like boating, fishing and swimming particularly popular. Big Sauk Resort

• People who stay at Big Sauk Resort, on Big Sauk Lake, have their pick of water activities, including boating and swimming. Lodging options include eight cabins that can accommodate four to six people and four motel rooms. The resort also offers a campground with water and electrical hookups. Boats and pontoons are available for rent. There is also a bar and restaurant at Big Sauk Resort, called the Lakeside Grill that serves hamburgers and fries.

Gateway Resort

• There are five cabins at Gateway Resort, with each cabin providing a good view of Big Sauk Lake, where walleye, bass and sunfish can be found. Cabins have two or three bedrooms. Most have full kitchens and a deck overlooking the lake. Shower facilities are available on the resort grounds. There also are boats to rent.

Red Barn Resort

• The Red Barn Resort is on the very southern end of Sauk Lake, where guests have easy access to the water and Lake Wobegon Trail, which is 48 miles long and attracts bikers and walkers. The resort also has a bar. Sauk Centre itself features a number of dining options, including the Palmer House Hotel, which is open for lunch and dinner and serves sandwiches and dinner entrees, such as steak and walleye. Another nearby restaurant is the Next Door Bar and Lounge, which serves hamburgers and sandwiches and is a popular after-hours spot.
