The Chihuahua is a very cute, adorable and intelligent pet.

Chihuahuas are also very energetic and have a playful nature.
It would come as no surprise to find them running around and trying to get you attention to play with them.
Since Chihuahuas are very fragile and small they are not advisable pets for very young kids.
They could easily be hurt by a child who would mishandle them or wouldn't have sufficient control over his grip.
Chihuahuas are intelligent dogs but they can sometimes be difficult to train.
They just need your time and patience in training.
Again it is important that in training your Chihuahua or any dog for that matter that you utilize positive reinforcement.
Avoid shouting or yelling at your Chihuahua let alone hitting it if it doesn't get the command accurately.
Even for its tiny size, a Chihuahua is still an aggressive dog and it'll bark at other dogs even if it is aware of the much bigger size of the other pooch.
It is your responsibility to protect your Chihuahua from other big dogs.
A Chihuahua also needs exercise so it is still ideal to give it a regular walk.
This will help your dog keep himself physically fit and healthy.
If it's cold outside, let your Chihuahua wear a dog coat or a sweater to protect him from the cold which may not be combated upon by its very short coat.
It is important also that you feed your Chihuahua a well balanced diet and be careful not to overfeed it.
Visit your pet doctor regularly for check-ups and necessary immunizations.
