Visit NatureQuest at Fernbank Museum of Natural History With Your Kids
Explore the natural world with your kids at NatureQuest! Fernbank Museum of Natural History recently opened this 7,000 square foot, $8 million children's exhibit, and it is amazing. The exhibit is based on the six major ecosystems of Georgia and offers opportunities for learning and creative play. NatureQuest is included in museum admission.

Exhibit Overview
When you enter NatureQuest, the first thing you'll see is a two-story clubhouse with microscopes and other learning tools. Off to one side is a giant tree that children can crawl inside and climb. A motion sensitive river snakes through the exhibit, revealing virtual fish swimming under your feet. To the left is a gorgeous undersea center, home to thousands of coral, shells, and sea life. Continue on through the center to find caves and rock formations - even a virtual waterfall. Above your head are rope bridges for kids to explore.
Many live and replica animals make their homes throughout NatureQuest, and the floor is dotted with hundreds of animal tracks to follow. In another corner is a archeological dig site where kids can excavate fossils and piece together pottery shards.
Field guides, coloring pages, nature books, and activity sheets are available to enhance the educational experience. Kids love exploring the exhibit to find a certain shell or footprint or mineral. The layout lends itself to creative play, as the tree and the clubhouse and the bridges become imaginative play areas beyond their educational purposes.
NatureQuest was thoughtfully planned - there is one entrance monitored by an employee, and it's easy for parents to stand in the middle and watch their children. There is stroller parking just outside, and NatureQuest is close to the bathrooms with changing tables and a nursing station.
The addition of NatureQuest makes Fernbank an even better destination for your child's birthday party.
NatureQuest is recommended for kids ages 2-10, but younger and older kids will still enjoy their visit. When you visit Fernbank, be sure to leave enough time to spend at NatureQuest, because your children will probably not want to leave!
