Alternative to NYC Hotels
- Many bed and breakfast options are available in New York City. Some are in plush brownstones with Jacuzzis, rich carpeting, and a fridge, coffee maker and microwave in each room. Some may require a minimum stay and may require guests to adhere to rules such as no smoking, drinking or pets.
- NYC apartments are available from luxury to quaint, to bare bones. Stays can range from over night to months. Visitors can find fully furnished apartments close to shopping, nightlife and attractions.
- Many new, upscale, and hip hostels are popping up all over New York City. Most offer 24 hour security, housekeeping, free WiFi and other amenities. NYC hostels are no longer stark, drab, and dark places to stay. They are attractive, comfortable, and still affordable.
- Many NYC colleges will allow guests to use dorms rooms during the summer months and school vacation breaks. Availability and accommodations differ, but expect dorm rooms, community bath, and security.
- Home swapping is available in NYC. Some homeowners will swap a week (or more, or less) in their NYC for a week in your home. Home Exchange and vacation Exchange websites will do a lot of the leg work work for you.
