You've been invited to your first black tie affair, congratulations! I bet you're so excited and just rummaging through your closets to find the perfect attire for the event.
And of course in any party it's always best to express your personal style.
But a black tie event isn't just any kind of party! Expressing yourself should be within accepted limits and respect should be given to the seriousness and class of this event in comparison to other parties.
So what are some of the worst things to wear on a black tie party? Here are a few of the things that should definitely be avoided on such an event: lSneakers: Whatever anyone says there is nothing that should make you wear sneakers on your black tie event.
The opinion of the punk scene notwithstanding, this is one of the biggest no-nos in any event that has even a hint of formality.
No matter how beautiful or how expensive your signature sneakers are, they're best reserved for the malls, the courts and the collection.
Black tie events should definitely be avoided.
lSkimpy Shorts: Any kind of shorts actually can make you a real laughing stock or oddity in any black tie affair.
This isn't the beach, you know.
But really skimpy and revealing shorts can really send the wrong signals.
You may have the best looking legs in the whole of North America but wearing shorts isn't exactly the best way to flaunt that fact in a black tie affair.
lHenna Tattoos: The henna tattoo may be very sexy or seductive when used in informal gatherings or rock concerts.
But at a black tie affair? You'd stick out like a sore thumb and not in a good way.
The look of a deviant may be appealing but it definitely does not work in this case.
