Does Anyone Really Know SEO?
Instead of telling you what I know, I'll tell you what I don't because I don't think anyone can know everything in the fast-paced environment of SEO. Everyone talks about SEO and what I call the four €I's€ €" the Importance of; the Impact of; the Influence of and the Instrument of how to deliver what everyone expects. With the changing of rules and how sites are implemented, the game changes every day. There's really no way to stay ahead of all the techies that Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, etc., employ to stay ahead of everyone else. The best you can hope for is to ride at the top of the curve by reading constantly, checking out successful sites, and applying that knowledge the best you can to what you provide. Then, cross your fingers and spit in the dirt.
In the past (like maybe a week ago), you could use the usual tricks to try and fool the search engines€¦lots of links, repetitive words, constantly adding content€¦while those do work to varying degrees€¦it's now the €organic€ information that counts. What everyone now calls €White Hat SEO€! No faking, no tricks, just clean information with the appropriate keywords, right meta-tags, original content, correct page titles, the right number of links in the right number of words, the correct amount of characters in the headings and on and on. Really, who can keep up?
And there's the four €C's€, and we are definitely not talking diamonds, it's all about the Importance of Content €" is the information relevant and unique; the Impact of Conversion €" do visitors take action once they land on your site; the Influence of Clickability €" are your page titles, descriptions worded effectively; and the Influence of Crawlability €" can the search engines find the structure and navigation to crawl your website and index accordingly. See what I mean?
I can assure you my pursuit of SEO information will never end€¦there are way too many resources and too many changes taking place on the web to make that certain. I can foresee a never ending reading stack€¦oh, and now, there's Panda€¦
