A good number of accidents in the workplace or at home can be attributed to the wet floor. Although there are no studies in Africa about the approximate figures of workers and customers figuring into an accident due to slippage, the UK has revealed a recent study relevant to the topic at hand. According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), an independent watchdog on health issues, 35% of injuries in the food and beverage industries are caused by slips and trips. Of the total number, 9 in 10 incidents are due to wet floor, either by water, soda or food product. Floor coverings will drastically reduce these types of accidents.

what are The Benefits of water Resistant Flooring?

Prevent Accidents: Clearly, you can prevent accidents from happening. The same study by the HSE, a water-resistant floor will reduce the chance of an accident by more than 50%. In a time when everybody seems to be too quick on the trigger when it comes to lawsuits, you can drastically cut the potential costs of litigation.

Your Floor will Not Rot: Floor coverings that are water resistant mean water will not spill over into your original floor. If it's made of wood, for example, constant exposure to liquids will accelerate its decay. Even if your floor is made of concrete, the liquid will encourage mould growth or corrosion. It's much harder to repair your floor when that happens.

Lengthen the Lifecycle of Your Floor: Covering your gym flooring with rubber will prevent slips. For example, there's a product called Soft Rubamat which doesn't need adhesives since the pieces can be interlocked with each other. It's also environmentally friendly since they are fashioned from bonded crumb rubber that is also recycled.

No Need for Regular Cleaning: A water-resistant floor will cut the number of times you will need your mop or rug. In most instances, the water will be absorbed by the material or will dry quickly. You can choose a material that is also noise, chemical and flame-resistant.

Cut Foot Fatigue: A shower mat can be a good option for your shower or change room in your gym flooring. The mat is self-draining and features "grippers" that clutches at your feet to avoid slippage. The shower mat is also very soft which cushions your feet even while walking barefoot. It is sturdy enough that even if somebody drops a heavy object, it can still absorb the hard impact.
