Is It Really a Hyperactivity Disorder Like ADHD or Could There Be Another Diagnosis?
According to webmd.
com there are three classes of symptoms for ADHD - which include inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.
Let's take a moment to look at each of those classes.
The word inattention basically means a failure to pay attention.
Romans 13:1 says "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers.
For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
" Furthermore, Hebrews 13:17 says "Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
" Failing to obey that scripture would be a sin, would it not? The scripture says every person should be subject to higher powers - higher powers would be God, parents, teachers, leaders - anyone in an authoritative position.
It is impossible to submit to those that have authority over us if we fail to pay attention to their instructions.
Now let's take a peek at hyperactivity.
The term refers to a person who is extremely or excessively active.
I Timothy 5:13 explains that those who don't use their time/energy wisely are "...
not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
" In other words, each one of us is born with a certain amount of energy.
We can use that energy wisely - developing a good work ethic, helping others, doing our part to make the world a better place...
or we can use it to cause disruptions, to interfere in the business of others, and to see how many problems we can create.
Thirdly, let's take a look at that word impulsivity.
The word is referring to someone who tends to act on urges instead of on thought.
Proverbs 25:28 tells us "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
" When a person makes decisions that are not thought out - based upon temptations, emotions, peer pressure, etc - God says that person is in a condition of desolation.
All three classes of symptoms for ADHD can easily be seen as SIN in the eyes of God - SIN is the true diagnosis.
They are not necessarily a disease.
Sin acts as a disease - like a cancer - that eats away at us little by little until there is almost nothing less.
However, there is good news.
Unlike ADHD "treatments" of - take 300 mg of this medication for a few weeks and then when it stops working let's add 250 mg of this other medication and several weeks later when you stop feeling the effects of these two, add another 500 mg of this other and then when you can't sleep as a result of the other medications, start taking 350 mg of this...
Sin needs no pills other than the Goss pill - I'm sorry, the Gospel.
The Bible teaches parents how to raise children that can be free from the bondage of sin.
Unfortunately, we live in a society where the majority of people listen to psychologists and psychiatrists and ignore the word of God.
How do you know who is right? Well, look at the foster care system for a moment - it is run by social workers.
Do some research on how well kids who spent more than one year of their childhood in foster care function in life as adults.
Do some research on what percentage of foster children are on medication for ADD, ADHD, or ODD in comparison with those in mainstream society.
Do some research on the percentage of criminals who at some point in their lives were "treated" by mental health care professionals.
Do some research on the percentage of children adopted from foster care whose adoptive parents eventually have to place in group homes because they cannot function in a normal household.
