Despite the prevailing idea that Doberman pinscher dogs are fierce, vicious and bad-tempered watch dogs, they recently proved to be affectionate and wonderful family pets.
The Doberman-Pinscher dog is relatively a new breed created in Germany 1890 by Karl Friedrich Doberman, a tax collector who needed a dog for protection.
He set to breed a new kind of dogs that would be strong, loyal, intelligent and ferocious.
The breed have been created from several breeds of dogs like Rotweiler, Pinscher, German shepherd, Great Dane and Pointer, the ratios of mixing are unknown.
It is believed that the German Shepherd gene was the dominant in the breed.
The Doberman Pinscher is a medium sized dog with a powerful muscular tall lean body with a life span of 8-12 years.
In early years of breed Doberman were taught to be very fierce and fearless.
In world war two, United States Marine Corps enlisted Doberman to accompany the soldiers in many missions.
After the war the Doberman popularity started to rise as a protector.
Lately breeders and trainers reduced the aggressive traits in Doberman, it mellowed its fiercenesses so it became a loved family member and a very popular pet.
Dobbies show great love, gentleness and devotion especially towards children, they also adapts easily to any other pets in the house.
Dobbies need to be raised as part of the family, as they are very active and energetic they need daily doggie walks and sufficient exercise to become good pets.
Dobberman were bred to be watch dogs so they have a natural instinct to bark at strangers to protect their properties and their domains.
Ear crops for affective sound location are done 7-9 weeks and tail docking is surgically removed after few days of birth as Doberman is born with a long tail.
The common color is black but it comes in four other colors, black and rust, red and rust, blue and rust and fawn and rust.
The Doberman is an affectionate loving dog, loyal, very intelligent, fearless, obedient, energetic and easy to train pet, they also need guidance and training.
Doberman former reputation as aggressive dobs is history; they are now recognized as good protectors and companions of the family.
