Any visit to Udaipur is not complete without a shopping spree at the many markets of varying sizes offering an assorted selection of items both ornate and simple. Udaipur offers the tourist a rich tapestry of mogul enticements be it architecture, customs, gastronomical delights or culture. Traditional Rajasthani Bandhej saris and very conventional dresses like Lehanga-Chunri, cotton Punjabi suits and traditional Indian kurtas, unique and intricate works on silk and chiffon and limited edition designer saris are in plenty in shops.

Also, one must visit the Shilpgram Museum which is a renowned crafts village a few kilometres away from the town. Ganjaur Ghat's eastern side is ideal for shopping as it contains many bazaars that branch out from the area's Clock Tower. It has a good selection of pottery, carpets, paintings and anything made with cane. The side streets of the City Palace are also filled with shops selling ethnic paintings. The other famous bazaars are Jagdish Chowk Road, famous for local crafts and jewellery, Ghanta Ghar Road a fabric lover's paradise and Bapu Bazaar for fine carpentry and toys.

Tourists are graciously welcomed at all types of shops and they receive customers with respect, even if you are simply window shopping to while away the time! For the visitor who is really keen on getting around the city to feel the whole Udaipur experience, the cycle rickshaw is the quintessential way to get about.
