Karaoke is a type of entertainment where a person sings along to a pre-recorded track as the words appear on a screen in front of him. While there are no bars devoted strictly to karaoke in southern Minnesota, many bars offer a night or two each week dedicated to this popular form of entertainment. In this case, a DJ hired by the bar usually comes to host the evening of singing. Most karaoke bars in this region of the state are located in Minneapolis. - Elsie's Restaurant, Bar and Bowling Center hosts karaoke nights each Friday and Saturday starting at 9 p.m. The bar area has several plasma-screen TVs for game viewing when you're tired of singing. Stop at the restaurant before your performance and choose from a variety of burgers, salads, sandwiches and appetizers. Bowling is offered in one of 16 lanes that include automatic scoring. After 9:30 p.m. the bowling area is open only to those ages 21 and older, allowing for adults-only fun after singing a couple of songs.
