Kenya is a country rich in many natural attractions that make people live their home countries to see the beauty of the land.
This is what is known as tourism.
One of the greatest achievements that this activity has brought is that, it has earned great revenue for it.
In fact, it is known to be the second largest foreign income earner after agriculture, which is basically the backbone of the country's economy.
Some of the attractive features that promote tourism in Kenya are the mountains, for example Mt.
Kenya which is located in central Kenya and Mt.
Kilimanjaro which marks the border between Kenya and Tanzania.
Other attraction sites that one cannot afford to miss are the great lakes that lie within the floor of the Great Rift Valley.
They include Lake Tanganyika, which is the deepest in the world and Lake Naivasha, which is known for its beauty and Lake Nakuru that is graced by thousands of flamingos.
Another lake that is of great interest is Lake Bogoria, with all its hot springs and geysers.
However, in as much as it is thrilling to watch the hot water spring from underneath the solid rock surface, caution must be taken that one does not get burnt by the steam or the boiling water.
Another thing to look out for is the sinking ground around the hot springs.
The Great Rift Valley has a long and interesting history that draws keen attention to anyone visiting the area.
It was formed through volcanic action that led to faulting and rifting.
Another interesting bit about it is that, it runs from Ethiopia to the North, through Kenya, all the way to Mozambique in the South.
It also hosts some mountains that are known to be volcanically active like the Menengai crater.
Around the escarpments are view points where tourists can get an aerial view of the floor of the rift valley and take photos as well.
While this is about the features that one might be able to see while on a tourist visit to Kenya, tourism in Kenya entails a lot of other crucial aspects and is a sector of the nation's growth that the country cannot do without.
To support tourism effectively, the hospitality and hotel management sector has done a great job of providing attractive and affordable packages for tourists, such that there is always great value for money.
For reservations and bookings, there is a directory that one can easily consult for terms and conditions.
With the improvement in technology, booking and confirmation can now be done online.
