Autumn Events for All the Family
If you're wondering what to do this Autumn half term, then look no further! With Halloween on the way and school half terms falling at the end of October too, families and individuals will be in need of some Autumn inspiration.
We've collected up a few seasonal events taking place here in the UK to give you some ideas for the Autumn holidays.
Mystery Trails
Okay, so the kids might not be instantly thrilled by the idea of going on a walk - but bear with us! This Autumn could be the perfect time for you and your loved ones to go on a Treasure Trail: each trail is set up as either a murder mystery, a spy mission or a treasure hunt. Set in some of the UKs most beautiful scenery and with Autumn bringing in slightly spookier themes, kids (and big kids alike!) will enjoy these trails that are located across the UK.
York Maze
Time to ramp up the horror at York Maze this Autumn! Open from the 25th of October to the 1st of November, York Maze will be hosting a series of events and activities including arts and crafts, pumpkin carving, a golden pumpkin hunt, ghost rides, refreshments and much more. For the braver few, Hallow scream will also be back this year: the live scare event takes place every year over 7 days and features a circus of horrors designed to scare those who dare to visit!
London Aquarium Pumpkin Trail
There's more pumpkin activities taking place at the London Aquarium for the half term as, from the 27th October through to the 2nd November you can take the family on a very unique pumpkin trail unlike any other. The Sea Life London Aquarium is filled with intricately carved pumpkins featuring some of the centres sea creatures. If you're able to go on Halloween, the kids will be in for a treat as the Fish Witch will be telling eerie tales from the deep.
Autumn Fruit Picking
There's no better way to take the kids back to nature or enjoy a romantic stroll than harvesting your own fruit. Take a walk around one of your local pick-your-own farms while you fill your basket full of juicy strawberries or sweet apples. Whitby is will always be tied to this time of year - after all, the beautiful town was the inspiration behind Bram Stoker's Dracula. For an authentic Halloween experience, climb the steps of Whitby Abbey where costumed actors will regale spooky stories from the darker side of history.
