How to Make a Claim on a Notary
- 1). Contact the notary via certified mail with your complaint. Request the name and address of the bond company that backs the notary. Give him 30 days to comply with your request.
- 2). Review the response from the notary. Take his answers, modify your complaint and draft a letter detailing your claim. Explain the circumstances as well as the damages caused.
- 3). Make copies of your original letter and the response from the notary. Place those copies into an envelope with your claim letter. Send this package to the bonding company via certified mail.
- 4). Take all of your original letter, the notary's response, any unsatisfactory response from the bonding company and the certified letter signature cards to the court clerk's office. Fill out the necessary paperwork to file a civil suit against the notary and the bonding company.
- 5). Attend court and present your evidence. Explain how the notary has damaged you financially. Answer any questions from the judge honestly and completely. Accept the decision of the court.
