• According to the Philippines Bureau of Immigration, Republic Act No. 9225 accords citizenship to anyone born in the Philippines or born into a family that includes at least one Filipino parent. If you meet either of these criteria, you can attain Philippine citizenship.

• The Philippines awards citizenship through the process of naturalization. You may complete the naturalization process in a variety of ways, all of which are outlined in Commonwealth Act No. 473. Basically, you must live and earn money in the Philippines for five to 10 years, depending on your occupation.

• Only citizens may own real estate in the Philippines. Moreover, many professions require citizenship, including all licensed positions, such as doctors and lawyers, and all retailers.

• According to the U.S. Immigration Support website, the U.S. government taxes your global income. The Philippine government taxes only income generated in country. With a dual citizenship, you will be double-taxed on income generated in the Philippines.
