How to Access a WiFi Encrypted Network

    • 1). Click on the wireless network icon. The icon is within the taskbar, located by default at the lower right corner of the desktop; the icon looks like a signal strength indicator, with adjacent bars of increasing height. Windows will list the wireless networks currently within range.

    • 2). Find the network you want to join within the list. Windows will display a little padlock icon next to the network name, indicating that the network is encrypted. Click on the network you want to join.

    • 3). Click "Connect." Windows will prompt you for the network key, that every computer must know and present before being allowed to join. Type the network key and press "Enter." When Windows reports that you successfully joined the network, you will be able to start communicating with other computers over the wireless link.
