The Embassy Suites Jackson

• Because of recommendations from Kana Hotel Group, the Embassy Suites Jackson in Mississippi is making extra strides towards becoming a green hotel. For example, the hotel creates room keys from recycled plastic and the hotel's front desk personnel recycles their paper. The hotel offers four meeting rooms that encompass 5,000 square feet, including an area for banquets. Located on-site is an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and a fitness center with Precor fitness machines. There is a fully equipped business center with office tools, computers and printers. Each guest room provides high-speed wireless Internet access, Sweet Dreams bedding, alarm clocks with MP3 connection, television in the living room and bedroom, iron, ironing board, queen-sized sofa bed, coffee maker and delivery of USA Today.

The Hilton Garden Inn

• Acting on Kana's advice, the Hilton Garden Inn in Smyrna, Tennessee, has begun using Innoware Eco Containers, which package the food available in the Pavilion Pantry. These containers can be completely composted. Compared with conventional containers, these containers use much less petroleum in their manufacturing and they emit lower levels of greenhouse gases. This hotel offers complimentary wireless Internet and wired high-speed Internet, indoor swimming pool and whirlpool, a five-hole putting green, a 24-hour business center and a gym. Each guest room includes a 32-inch high-definition plasma television (with free HBO), microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker.

Staybridge Suites

• As a result of consultations with Kana, the Staybridge Suites in Greenville, South Carolina, is using lighting that is more energy efficient, including compact fluorescent bulbs for the interior lights and light emitting diode (LED) lights for some exterior signage. Also, Staybridge is trying to conserve laundering water by offering guests the option to keep the same linens and towels throughout their stay. This hotel offers a 24-hour fitness center with televisions, barbecue grills, outdoor swimming pool, convenience store, children's activities, a fully-equipped business center and free wireless high-speed Internet. Every guest room has a cable television and DVD player, coffee maker, dishwasher, microwave, plates, serving dishes and glasses, silverware, pots, pans, stove, toaster, hairdryer, hamper, iron and ironing board, and rollaway bed.
