Youth empowerment workshop held for muslim youth

As part of activities marking the International Youth Day celebration , which fell on Friday 12th of August, a youth empowerment workshop was held for Muslim youth in and around the fadama community, in Accra.
The workshop which was organized by the SONSETFUND Initiative under the auspices of the office of the National Chief Imam and held under theme ‘'Empowering the Zongo Youth for National Development in the 21st Century'' was funded by the World Bank, Ghana office.
Delivering his keynote address, hon. Boniface Abubakar Siddique, challenged Muslim parents to persevere in given their children the exquisite education that would enable them get the opportunity to occupy better positions in the both the public and private sectors.
Hon Boniface, added the best legacy a parent can bequeath to a child is education and that the absence of this will engage or push such a child in the unemployment pool which according to him carries with a lot of social, economic, cultural and political consequences.
We should be challenged by the Prophet Mohammed's encouragement which tasks one to seek of knowledge even if it is in china as education is the cardinal factor to development.
The uncertainties of the time and its challenges, threats that the youth pose to human civilization and survival he noted cannot be over emphasize .He described the youth as the strongest moving force in development and therefore urged community leaders to ensure their future.
‘'let their idealism, dynamism, talents and dreams serve as the living fountain that will nourish and sustain them to live and survive productively with dignity and pride''
In these times of limited resources, we need to collaborate in both unique and innovative ways to a stronger, physically and psychologically healthy living in a healthy environment, he urged.
Hon Boniface who was the former Water Resource, Works and Housing Minister in the NPP administration called for the implementation of strong supporting programmes for the Muslim child.
On her part, Assistant Superintendent of Police [ASP] Hajia Sa'dat Mohammed, urged Muslim youth to serve as ambassadors of Islam and as role models of the religion by avoiding questionable behaviors and kindly be great and reliable representative of the Muslim youth in Ghana and beyond.
She said the Muslim youth is known to be courageous and hardworking but lacks the needed education to back its abilities .however, through massive awareness on the importance of education, responsibility and the spirit of wining, the trend has now change.
The ASP revealed that the latest data available on the number of Muslims in our tertiary institutions and at the basic level portrays a positive picture of the Muslim youth of today's Zongo communities in Ghana.
‘'What we need now is positive leadership from all angles ,a more responsible parental care and dynamic youth clubs so that collectively we can reshape the collective and individual visions of our people for an achievable and sustainable objectives befitting our Muslim youth'' she challenged.
