How to Register a Mixed Breed Dog
- 1). Take your dog to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered. The AKC and UKC only accept spayed or neutered dogs for mixed breed registration.
- 2). Fill out the AKC Canine Partners listing or UKC Limited Privilege application. This is found on their websites, which are linked in the References section. A small fee is required.
- 3). Follow the instructions closely when filling out the application(s). For example, the AKC requires naming rules be followed; you can only use 36 characters. Submit your application when you finish.
- 1). Spay or neuter your dog. AMBOR requires veterinary certification of spaying or neutering.
- 2). Become a member of AMBOR. This form can be completed at the same time as the dog's registration, which can be accessed in the Resources section.
- 3). Fill out the registration form completely. Information requested on the form includes owner's name, dog's name, gender and birth date.
- 1). Fill out the application for registry found on the NAMBR website, which is linked in the Resources section.
- 2). Include information about the dog's breed mixes and parents if known. Also include the dog's name and owner information.
- 3). Send the application by mail with the registration fee.
