She went on to work at the Mister Brown's Pub at "The Sagamore", a hotel on Lake George, later she went on to be a buyer at the Cowan & Lobel in Albany.
It was here she came across people who were reluctant to cook and which later prompted her to come up with concept of "30 Minutes Meals" where she took classes for people teaching them how to make meals in less than thirty minutes.
This venture was a success and she was offered to appear on the newscasts by the WRGB, a local CBS TV affiliate.
This was followed up with appearance in radio.
Later in 2001 she got her first Food Network contract in the "Today" show.
In her short cut techniques she never follows accurate measurements, but instead believes that measuring takes away the creativity.
In 2005 she entered a contract with Oprah Winfrey and King World Productions to host a TV talk show called the "Rachael Ray".
Ray also appeared in a number of TV shows like the "The View", "The Today Show", "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "The Late Show with David Letterman", "Nightline", "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", and "Larry King Live".

Later in 2008 she hosted the show "Rachael's Vacation" a five-part food travelogue shot in various European countries.
She did her first cooking show in 2010, in the "Cooking Channel" by the name "Rachael Ray's Week In a Day".
She also launched her magazine "Every Day with Rachael Ray" in 2006.
She began to endorse for products and became the spokesman for Nabisco crackers.
She appeared in commercials and was also featured on the products boxes with her recipes in it.
She signed up with the WestPoint Home, a conglomerate corporation, in 2007 to launch sheets, blankets, and coverlets designed by her.
The same year in collaboration with AT&T her recipes were made available to cellular phones through the feature "Rachael Ray Recipes on the Run".
She also got into dog food business, by introducing "Rachael Ray Nutrish pet food", which was inspired by her recipes that she used to develop for her pet, pit bull, Isaboo.
The money from this venture goes to the charity founded by her for helping animals at risk.
