Social Media Marketing in Less Than an Hour a Day
Social media is an interesting beast to tame.
The pundits and evangelists tell you that it's the best way to pick up new leads and customers.
Your boss is telling you it's a waste of time.
So how is it possible to have the best of both worlds - a solid social media presence while spending as little time as possible? About 6 months ago, I got a message asking this exact question.
The tweet came from a business owner who was having incredible success with Twitter.
My new client had a unique problem, though.
Because of the economy, her client base had all but dried up and she couldn't really afford any advertising to pick up new leads.
So her primary marketing strategy was hanging out on Twitter, and she was spending close to 4 hours a day on there.
While my client was 'hanging out,' she started answering all these 'women-owned' business questions.
Things like how to do taxes and what kind of perks other women could look forward to.
Then, they started calling her on the phone and requesting sit downs.
All of a sudden, she had clientele again! Now, this is where the problem starts.
As she started entertaining her new clients, she realized that she didn't have time for social media anymore.
She couldn't continue spending 4 hours a day on Twitter and Facebook or else she'd lose her new business! That's when she contacted me.
What I did was put her on a strict social media diet.
I showed her tools like TweetDeck.
com and CoTweet.
com that would help her manage her interactions.
I also taught her how to schedule tweets with FutureTweets.
com so that it looked like she was always around.
Then I monitored her progress.
I helped her find what was working and what wasn't through Google Analytics and URL shortening services like Bit.
ly.
Before she knew it, she was able to cut her total social media marketing time down to less than an hour a day and still get new leads! If you find that you're in the same boat as my client was, make sure you use a few of the tools in this article.
Trust me, they'll help save you time and get you new leads all at the same time!
