The Greatest Films From Director Michael Mann
Plain and simple, Michael Mann has become one of the better directors in the movie industry.
I wouldn't put him in the same category as the greats such as Scorsese, Speilberg and Ridley Scott, or in the up and coming greats, such as Christopher Nolan and David Fincher, but he's definitely had his fair share of great films.
The following movies are, in my opinion, Michael Mann's five best films of his career.
Let's start out with The Last Of The Mohicans.
I recently watch this film again, which was my whole inspiration for writing this article.
Even though there have been films with a similar storyline in recent years, this still remains one of my favorites.
Another movie that is worthy of discussion is Heat.
If you needed any convincing to see this awesome movie, the Internet Movie Database has it ranked as one of the top 150 films of all time.
Another great movie that was directed by Michael Mann was Public Enemies.
Who would have thought that Johnny Depp would be able to play the part of John Dillinger so well? I should have never doubted him, as he is an incredible actor.
I would be remiss to create a list of the best Michael Mann movies of his career without giving some love to The Insider.
I can't decide who was better in this movie, Al Pacino or Russell Crowe.
In the end, it doesn't matter because they were both great! Last but not least, Collateral is a movie that makes the cut for me.
I did not know what to expect with this movie, and while it was not what I expected, I found it very enjoyable and worth seeing.
It is clear after going through Michael Mann's catalog of films that he is very talented and has had some great films over the years.
I can't wait to see his up and coming movies, as long as that list does not include Miami Vice 2.
