World of Warcraft Faction Change Service
In classic WoW, changing your faction after selecting it was not possible.
Luckily for those players who are interested in changing factions, there is now a paid Faction Change Service provided by Blizzard.
It's not expensive, just 25 Eur in Europe or $30 in US.
And it gets you a lot more than just a faction change.
Race Change - when changing your faction from horde to alliance or alliance to horde, you will have to choose a race for your character.
Some classes are able to choose from more than one race while classes such as Druids at the moment are limited to just 1 race from the opposing faction.
When World of Warcraft: Cataclysm comes out, there will be a few more choices as some races are given the opportunity to have classes they don't have at this point.
For now your choices will be limited to the current race/class rules.
Additionally, you will be able to customize your character's appearance the first time you log on and change the name if you wish; however, if you don't do that before you log on for the very first time on your new faction side, you can no longer customize your toon.
Quests, Reputation and Achievements - Some things just get switched here, while others get removed entirely.
For example, if you have the achievement for completing 3000 quests and you are currently playing on the Alliance side, once you swap factions all quests that are considered Alliance-only will be removed and you will notice a substantial completed quests number lost in the transaction.
You will have new quests opening for you, those that are considered Horde-only (for example) but if you are just a few quests from reaching your goal and getting your achievement, it is much easier to first get the achievement and then swap factions.
All the reputation you have accumulated will be changed into the corresponding reputation if available.
For example, Darnassus rep will transform in reputation with Undercity.
Your faction-specific achievements can be switched too as far as I know, but I noticed that the quest lines in Icecrown have changed and even though I had 140 Quests in Icecrown achievement completed and I'm exalted with Knights of the Ebon Blade, after a faction hop from Horde to Alliance I was unable to access the Knights of the Ebon Blade vendor in Shadow vault and had to redo the quest chain to open the zone for me.
Mounts and Pets - Your faction specific mounts will change into the faction specific mounts for the corresponding race once you switch factions.
For example, if you are a night elf and have bought tiger mounts, once you switch faction they will turn into undead skeletal horses.
Non-combat pets remain unchanged, even the faction specific ones so there are no changes made on this matter.
Changing your faction opens a lot of possibilities - You can play with your friends if they have started characters from the opposite faction, you can get some faction specific pets obtainable through quests and most of all - you can make a lot of gold on completing all the quests for the new faction once you swap.
For example, after I did my faction change, all quests in Northrend that start from alliance quest hubs are now open for me, and as I'm level 80, this means that if I decide to complete them all I will most certainly earn a lot of money from turning in quest.
