NSG 370 Transmission Specs
- The automaker cased the NSG370 manual transmission in an aluminum housing unit. Matched with an in-line, six-cylinder engine, the transmission measured 23.5 inches long, while versions for the V-6 were 24.8 inches long. The transmission was lightweight at 89 lbs. It featured six speeds with overdrive as the sixth gear. Chrysler paired the NSG370 with the Jeep's four-liter, straight-six and Dodge and Chrysler 3.7-liter V6s, according to Novak Conversions.
- The manual transmission featured 10 splines and an output shaft on the Jeeps with 23 splines. Its torque rating was 272 pound-feet. The Jeep's gear ratios were 4.46:1 for first gear, 2.61:1 for second gear, 1.72:1 for third gear, 1.25:1 for fourth gear, 1.00:1 for direct drive fifth gear and 0.84:1 for sixth gear.
- DamilerChrysler matched the NSG370 with Generation III and later small-block Chevrolet V6 and V8 engines. DaimlerChrsysler designed the transmission to match the Jeep and Chrysler engines by only changing the bell housing.
