Activities in Hollywood, Florida
- Hollywood's warm climates allow avid golfers to hit tees in this South Florida city throughout the year. One of Hollywood's golf clubs, The Hollywood Beach Country Club and Golf Resort (hollywoodbeachgolfresort.com), has been open since 1924 and features an 18-hole golf course. This Golf Resort also provides lodging and on-site dining. Other Hollywood golf courses include Orange Brook (jcdsportsgroup.com/orangebrook-golf-country-club) -- which has two 18-hole courses -- and Eco Golf Club (no website; 1451 Taft St.; Hollywood; 954-922-8755), an 18-hole course in the heart of Hollywood's West Lake Park. Hollywood is also home to the annual Diamonds in the Rough Tournament, which occurs at the Orange Brook Golf and Country Club.
- Two of Hollywood's primary shopping centers are the Oceanwalk Mall (oceanwalkmall.com) and Hollywood Hills Plaza (no website; Hollywood Boulevard at North Park Road; Hollywood; 954-938-2584). - Hollywood is on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Two of Hollywood's primary beach areas are North Beach, located in northeast Hollywood, and Hollywood Beach. On Hollywood Beach, beachgoers may stroll along the Broadwalk, a two-mile path that passes by cafes and bars. The Broadwalk also passes by the Endangered Sea Turtle hatchery, which allows visitors to see sea turtles. Live entertainment is available at the Hollywood Beach Theater; this venue seats up to 500 spectators. Dog owners may take their pets to the Dog Beach of Hollywood, which is between Pershing and Custer Streets; the Dog Beach is only open on Fridays through Sundays during the day.
- Athletic facilities and centers are available throughout Hollywood. In western Hollywood, David Park (davidparktenniscenter.com) has a tennis center with 12 courts. This tennis center is home to the Extreme Tennis Academy (extremetennisacademy.com), which offers lessons for tennis players and children of all ages. Extreme offers private coaching sessions and summer camps. Rotary Park (rotarypark.com), situated right off Interstate 95, provides eight fields for baseball and softball games.
