How to Convert a 720p Blu-Ray to a DVD

    • 1). Navigate to a website that offers applications for converting Blu-ray movies to standard DVD Format. Programs such as AVCWare BluRay Ripper, BluRay Ripper and AVS Video Converter allow you to convert Blu-ray movies to a format compatible with older DVD players with just a few mouse clicks.

    • 2). Purchase a license key for the program on the site if required for the Blu-ray application you want to use. Download the application and save it to your computer.

    • 3). Browse to the application setup file for the conversion program in Windows Explorer. Double-click the file and follow the prompts to install the Blu-ray converter program on your computer. Restart Windows if prompted.

    • 4). Open the Blu-ray capable DVD burner driver on your computer. Insert the Blu-ray movie disc into the DVD drive and close the tray. Close the Windows AutoPlay window if it appears.

    • 5). Click “Start,” then “Computer.” Right-click the drive letter for the DVD drive in Windows Explore. Click “Open” on the popup menu.

    • 6). Open the “BDMV” folder on the disc, then the “STREAM” folder. Highlight all of the files in the “STREAM” folder, and press the “Ctrl” and “C” keys.

    • 7). Click the “Video” link under Libraries in Windows Explorer. Click the “New Folder” button on the toolbar and create a new folder named “Blu-ray videos” or something similar. Double-click the new folder to open it.

    • 8). Press the “Ctrl” and “V” keys to copy the Blu-ray movie files from the disc to the new folder on your computer. Open the DVD drive and remove the Blu-ray disc from your computer.

    • 9). Launch the Blu-ray converter program on your computer. Click the “Add” or “Import” button on the program’s toolbar. Browse to the new folder you created and highlight all of the video files. Click the “Import” or “Open” button to place all of the files in the converter program’s conversion queue.

      Click and select “DVD” on the menu bar or toolbar as the output format for the files you want to convert. If the converter program does not do so automatically, set video options for the converted files as follows: Bitrate – 9400; Frame Rate – 29.97 fps; and Resolution - 720 x 480.

      Set the audio settings for the converted clips as follows: Audio Codec – MP2; Bitrate 256 kbps; Channels – Stereo or Surround; Sample Rate – 48000 Hz; Size – 16 bit.

      Click the “Menu” or “Create Menu” button, and follow the prompts to name the individual clips, and create a DVD-style navigation menu if you wish to add one to the disc.

      Click the “Convert,” or “Start” button. Wait a few minutes for the Blu-ray converter program to convert the Blu-ray video clips to standard DVD format. Depending on the number and size of Blu-ray files you are converting, and the speed of your computer, the process might take several minutes or a few hours.

      Click the “Burn” or “Burn Disc” button on the Blu-ray converter toolbar and insert a blank disc into the optical drive. Enter a volume name for the new DVD and click “Continue” or “OK.” Wait for the program to burn the converted files – and menu if you create one – to the blank disc.

      Remove the disc from the burner when prompted. Use the new disc in any standard DVD player.
