    • 1). Use a fan bulb or any other bulb that can withstand the vibrations. Fan bulbs have an extra filament that helps in reducing the vibrations that are caused due to the running fan. So fan bulbs have a longer life. They give off a soft yellow light which enhances the surroundings.

    • 2). Push the tester leads of a digital multimeter into the neutral and hot slots of the receptacle which are closest to the main panel. If the meter shows 125 volts or higher then call up the local department of power or send them an inquiry regarding your problem and asking them to check the voltage power sent to your home. The department of power should be able to solve your problem. They will send their electricians to find out what the problem is, though there may be an extra fee for this service.
The normal range of voltage in your house should be 120 to 124 volts. Light bulbs come in different ranges from 0 watts onwards. Most household bulbs are 120-volt bulbs, but if the actual range in your home is 126 volts or so, then a 120-volt bulb will lose around 60 percent of its life.

    • 3). Purchase a 75-watt (130 volts) bulb instead of a 60-watt (120 volts) bulb. The importance of using this bulb is the way it produces light using less electricity which can lower your bill and cause the bulb life to be longer than other bulbs. Another alternative is to use a smaller number of higher wattage bulbs in your house, instead of a greater number of lower wattage bulbs.
