    • 1). Measure and cut floral wire to 4 inches long with wire cutters -- one piece of wire for each pine cone you're including in the boutonniere. Wrap about 1 inch of the end of each wire around the stem of each pine cone to secure them to the wires.

    • 2). Cut a 5-inch piece of wire, and coil 2 inches of it around the stems of two oak leaves. Wrap green floral tape around the stems, allowing the wires to extend from the bottom of the stems.

    • 3). Pinch together the two connected stems of a small branch of soft pine needles and wrap the two stems together with floral tape to hold them together.

    • 4). Place the two oak leaves with the stems together on your work table, with the stems of the soft pine needle branch aligned over them. Layer the wired and taped stems of the pine cones over the stems of the pine needles and oak leaves.

    • 5). Arrange small, wispy sprigs of baby's breath or something similar on either side of the pine cones and a little extending up between them. Wrap a short piece of floral tape around the stems, just enough to hold them together while you work.

    • 6). Wrap the floral tape all the way around the gathered stems of the pine needles, pine cones and other stems, from the tops of the stems to the tips. Wrap a light green or light brown ribbon around the taped stems and glue the ends of the ribbon down with a hot glue gun. Wait 30 minutes before wearing the boutonniere to ensure the hot glue is set and cooled.
