The Apple iPad Mini is the mini tablet device most recently released by Apple Inc. Designed and developed exclusively by Apple, this device was unveiled on October 23, 2012, at the California Theater in San Jose, California. Tim Cook, Apple CEO, introduced this device along with a new version of the MacBook device, plus new generations of the MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, iMac and also the fourth-generation iPad.

This makes the iPad Mini the fifth generation of the iPad series and the very first one to feature a smaller screen size of 7.9 inches, as against to the regular 9.7-inch screen size of all the iPad models so far.

The iPad Mini comes with the same specifications as of the iPad 2, also including the same display resolution. This is a boon for iPad developers, since the device is ready for all the apps that are compatible with the original iPad. This iPad also ships with iOS 6. Unlike the iPad 2, though, the iPad Mini comes with 5MP and 1.2MP cameras and the Lightning USB connector as well.

The iPad Mini starts at a price of $329 and is already available for pre-order. It will be ready for shipping in many countries across the globe, started November 2, 2012.
