How to Mount a Pot Hanger
- 1). Measure your reaching height, which is the height the pots will hang to make access easiest for you. Measure the height from the floor to ceiling. Measure the distance from the floor to the palm of your upraised palm, as though you were reaching for a pan. Subtract the reaching height from the ceiling height; the difference will be the space between where your pots will hang and the ceiling.
- 2). Locate the joists behind the ceiling/walls using a stud finder. Make sure the pot hanger is installed into the joists and not just the sheetrock. Mark the location of the joists with a pencil or masking tape.
- 3). Place the pot hanger on the floor directly below where you intend to have it hanging so you can properly align the hanger with the joists. Mark the points on the ceiling/wall along a joist where you intend to drill in the bolts. Use a plumb bob if necessary to get precise locations.
- 4). Drill the eye bolts into the marked points. If you are using a wall hanger, use lag bolts instead.
- 5). Connect the chains from the pot hanger to the eye bolts. Raise the pot hanger to the proper reaching height.
