How to Get Scratches Out of Acrylic Furniture
- 1). Clean the scratched acrylic with a soft cloth moistened with acrylic cleaner or liquid dish soap and water. Wipe the acrylic dry.
- 2). Apply a dime-sized drop of mildly abrasive plastic polish on a soft cloth. Rub the area in a circular motion to remove minor scuffs and scratches, then wipe the residue away with a clean soft cloth.
- 3). Sand scratches that are too deep to be removed with plastic polish. Start with 150-grit sandpaper and spot-sand the area or areas until the scratches are gone. The spot will be rough.
- 4). Rub 400-grit sandpaper over the spot, followed by 600-grit sandpaper. The spot should be smooth now, but still dull.
- 5). Attach a buffing wheel to a drill or rotary tool. Turn on the tool to the lowest speed, and touch the buffing wheel to buffing compound to pick up a small amount. Buff the spot with the buffing wheel, moving in a circular motion, until the spot shines. Wipe away any remaining buffing compound with a damp soft cloth.
