    • 1). Click on "Main Menu" and tap the "Contacts" application. This is easily recognizable with the default icon of a red phone book.

    • 2). Click on the "More" button located on the lower-right side of the touch screen when inside the "Contacts" application.

    • 3). Scroll down until you see the "Contact Manager" option. Note that you should scroll down farther than what you can initially see on screen, as the submenu contains more options than what can be seen on the screen by default.
"Contact Manager" is a built-in function to back up and restore P1i contacts information from the phone's internal memory to an attached M2 memory card.

    • 4). Click the "Backup" option from the "Contact Manager" submenu. This will make a backup copy of all your groups and contacts information from the phone's internal memory to your M2 memory card. The backup files will be stored to the M2 memory card folder "\Other\Backup\Contacts." Two files will be produced: "Contacts.vcf" and "Groups.dat."

    • 5). Wait for the backup process to finish. The more contacts and groups you have, the longer the backup process will take. Finishing a backup of 500 contacts that contain information such as home phone, work phone, email address, websites, home address, etc., will take around three to five minutes.

    • 6). Back up the Contacts.vcf and Groups.dat files to the computer by using either a USB or Bluetooth connection. Though this process isn't directly used for transferring contacts to the P1i, doing so will provide backup files in case something happens to the M2 memory card. You can also extract the Contacts.vcf for other phones and contacts software both for computer or mobile phone use.

    • 7). Click the "Restore" option in "Contact Manager" to transfer your updated contacts to the phone. This will restore all your updated groups and contacts information from the M2 memory card backup file to your phone's internal memory.
Wait for the restore process to finish. It will take almost the same time as the backup for this process to finish.
