How to Install Trex Composite Decking
- 1). Lay the decking planks across the shortest length of your porch, and cut them all to size so they lay completely across the structural members without overhanging.
- 2). Start at one end of the porch and lay the first plank down, being sure it’s square across the porch.
- 3). Nail the board in place with the hammer or nail gun. Put two nails starting one inch from either edge of the board, wherever structural supports touch the plank, probably every 16 to 24 inches.
- 4). Lay the next board down next to the last one, and put the spacer wood between the two planks. Be sure the new plank is snug against the spacer. Nail it down just like the previous plank.
- 5). Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 for each plank, moving across the surface of the porch until you reach the end.
- 6). Use the table saw to cut the last board if it overhangs the far edge of the porch. Do this only after the rest of the planks are in place. Cut it down from 4 or 6 inches to less so it fits perfectly into the last position.
