Different Types of Lights
- Many modern ceiling fans include lamps at their center. These lights offer overhead illumination in a room. When overhead lights are in the center of a room, the illumination is dispensed evenly to each wall and corner. These lamps usually don't contain a lampshade. The light itself does not spin, but remains stabilized as the fan blades twirl.
- Floor lamps provide a room with illumination from the midpoint of a wall. This usually softens the entire illumination of a room. These lights stand alone, without having to be hung from anything or rested on any surface (other than the floor of course).
- Table lamps provide the ideal amount of light for reading or writing away from a desk. When a table is next to a couch or chair, adding a lamp that is within reach will make it easier to get some extra illumination. A table lamp will also add soft light to an entire room, especially when it has a lampshade.
- These are elaborate lights, used not only for great amounts of illumination but also for decoration. Chandeliers are the most expensive lights you'll find, but they are a perfect addition to a large entrance-way to a large house. Their appearance is regal and impressive, and they are incredibly bright.
- Desk lamps are small lamps that provide direct light for a desk space. They are not intended to provide great amounts of illumination to an entire room, but rather to a confined spot. Desk lamps help provide light for someone who is reading, writing or working at a desk.
