Like everything that is worth your time and effort, meditation is also something that requires some practice.
If you want to get the most of meditation you need to practice every day; quantity is not that important, but quality is.
You need to find a place that is quiet and makes you feel comfortable.
If you want to find a simple way to meditate you need to follow a few tips on how to focus and concentrate; you will be soon able to find what is best for you.
- Most people start meditating while lying down.
This is quite good and promising if you are not likely to fall asleep.
If you think that sitting is better, try to sit on a chair keeping your back straight.
Meditation is all about relaxation and peace while being alert and fully conscious.
Try to heighten your sense of awareness while you are relaxing and create a positive feeling thinking about something that brings you joy.
- If you plan to meditate try to avoid heavy food or any kind of food.
You need to be alert and usually food makes you lethargic.
- Take a shower and drink some water or a warm tea.
- Burn a candle or incense because it is proved that both add to the inspiration.
- It is better to meditate early in the morning or whenever you do not feel sleepy.
Try to avoid late hours or any time after a long day at work, because you are most likely to be quite tired.
Later on when you get more used to meditation you can use it to relax and offer a calming treat to yourself.
- Try to focus on one thing at the time; meditation is all about concentration.
You need to be able to focus all your spiritual and mental strength to one thing, rather than straying in different mental paths that will stall your efforts.
