• It can be tempting for employees to fail to disclose every indiscretion that lays in their pasts. When they must complete a background check, however, this compulsion to not tell the entire truth isn’t as influential. • Because employers who conduct background checks know for certain that their workers do not have criminal records that would preclude them from working in the positions into which they are being hired, they know for certain that these workers will be legally able to carry out the requirements of the job. By determining this upfront, employers can reduce their chances of having to fire a worker whom they later discover is ineligible for employment. By reducing turnover in this fashion, employers can save themselves the time and money associated with hiring new workers.
