    Full Disclosure

    • It can be tempting for employees to fail to disclose every indiscretion that lays in their pasts. When they must complete a background check, however, this compulsion to not tell the entire truth isn’t as influential. Because all will be revealed by a background check, employees know that they must disclose everything and, if they fail to, the employer will uncover the truth anyways. This prevents the lurking of skeletons in the closet, something that can cause disharmony within the workplace.

    Strong Candidate Selection

    • When all individuals have to first complete a background check befoe being hired, it is more likely that the company will hire stronger candidates. This can have a positive impact on workers as they will be working amongst colleagues with proven track records.

    Safe Work Environment

    • When a co-worker has an undisclosed criminal history, she could present a danger within the work environment. By having all employees complete a background check, employers can reduce the chances that their workforce contains individuals who may present danger to other workers.

    Reduced Turn Over

    • Because employers who conduct background checks know for certain that their workers do not have criminal records that would preclude them from working in the positions into which they are being hired, they know for certain that these workers will be legally able to carry out the requirements of the job. By determining this upfront, employers can reduce their chances of having to fire a worker whom they later discover is ineligible for employment. By reducing turnover in this fashion, employers can save themselves the time and money associated with hiring new workers.
