Navy Medical Education & Training
- Naval medical training ranges from the most basic to the very specific. Candidates in these courses may engage in fundamental officer training courses or more targeted ones like global or tropical medicine. They can also be trained in patient administration and clinical courses.
- There are programs set up for officers and enlisted men. For enlisted men, the more advanced courses are usually reserved for higher pay grades meaning that you have progressed academically as well as in rank. Medical officers are trained not only in scenarios like field hospital and combat casualty care, but also in joint operations issues, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Navy Reserve Physicians can receive their training in medical facilities, navy airbases, on fleet vessels and elsewhere. All officers who are directly appointed will go to Pensacola, Florida, for their initial training. Reserve physicians are also expected to continue their education in seminar environments and in "Navy-sponsored workshops."
