How to Make Your Own Fabric Blinds
- 1). Remove the mini blinds from the window. Your mini blind should slide into square anchors that sit against your window trim. To remove your mini blinds, simply unsnap the front of one of those square anchors and remove the mini blinds.
- 2). Measure the length and width of your mini blinds. Measure not only the slat portion of the mini blinds, but also the mounting bracket that sits at the top of the window if you want it covered in fabric as well. Write this number down.
- 3). Cut a piece of fabric that's four inches longer and four inches wider than the measurement you took.
- 4). Lay your fabric out on a large work area, and then place the front of the mini blinds in the middle of the fabric. Make sure you have two inches of fabric all the way around your mini blinds.
- 5). Apply a dot of fabric glue to every tenth mini blind slat, then press the fabric down onto the slat so it holds. Do this until your fabric is secure to the mini blinds.
- 6). Fold your extra fabric over the edges of your mini blinds. Hold it in place with fabric glue. Allow it to dry completely before you hang it up.
- 7). Hang your fabric-covered mini blinds back on the anchors.
