How to Delete Images From A Memory Card

Many people who love to capture special moments whether with family or friends often don't have the habit of deleting images from their digital camera's memory card.
Although, they may have transferred the photos to their computers, many would still want to review the images through their camera over and over again.
But if you're the type of person who wants to save on storage space and who wants to continue using the existing memory card for the long term, you can always delete the previous photos you've taken.
You will have to learn how to do it right, though, because sometimes even though you erase images from a card or format a card, some of them may still remain.
You may be unaware that while digital cameras allow you to delete pictures, the files are not automatically removed from the memory card.
They will only be removed when overwritten by a new file.
One way of permanently removing images is to overwrite the files on the memory card.
Do understand that unless they are overwritten, the files can still be recovered.
Experts suggest that if you're decided to delete some files, what you need to do is format the card using your camera and then shoot random images until the card is filled.
In this way, the photos you've taken earlier will be rewritten and therefore, will no longer have the chance to be recovered.
Before you do the formatting step then, you need to make sure that you want to delete the files.
Do keep in mind as well that before you format the card, you have transferred all your photos into a specific folder on your computer.
Formatting can be done in two ways -- the low level formatting and the regular formatting.
The low level format option is capable of deleting more images on a memory card compared to the standard process.
It also takes more time to do this.
However, experts recommend performing this low level formatting once in a while.
Another tip in formatting a card and making sure the images are permanently deleted is to transfer as many photos as possible from your computer back to the memory card.
Once this is done, format the card again.
Your goal here is to replace your very important images and files with other less important ones that can be freely accessed by other people using the internet.
You would know if your photos have been permanently removed when you do a search on the internet.
Use a recovery software which you can download for free and then try to recover the images you've deleted.
If you can still recover them, it means you were not successful in deleting them for good and that other people can still recover them as well.
Apart from formatting, there's another option available which is to wipe a memory card although this can take a long time.
To do this, you will have to use a software such as the RescuePRO by SanDisk.
So remember that deleting photos does not end in using the delete function of your digital camera.
You need to follow the steps mentioned above and be patient when performing the procedure.
