How to Get Water Out of Antique Wood
- 1). Let the piece of furniture dry and wipe it down with a cloth. If it is quite damp, run a dehumidifier in the room. Sometimes drying a small stain will be enough to make it less noticeable.
- 2). Rub white water stains with furniture polish. Again, this may be all that is required if the stain is small. If this does not cover the stain, you can try car wax since this is a heavier polish. Try this on a corner of the stain. If it looks like it will not remove the stain, move to the next step.

If a slight abrasive is required, mix salt with a few drops of water or furniture wax and rub it gently on the stain. One tbsp. baking soda and 1 tsp. or less of water will also help remove stains. Remove the salt or baking soda, then pat the furniture dry. Let the furniture dry completely overnight, then cover the improved stain with furniture or car wax.
