Cheap Craft Ideas for Wedding Favors
- You can make your own chocolate roses to offer your guests as a token of your appreciation for their attendance. Either make your own chocolate rose suckers by melting and pouring your own chocolate into a mold, or use an easier solution. Purchase Hershey's kisses in bulk, in the colors you need such as red, gold or silver. Use double-sided tape to stick two kisses together at the bottoms so it resembles a diamond shape. Attach a "stem" by using florist wire and wrapping about half of the bottom kiss and the entire wire with green florist wire. You can add silk leaves, ribbon or a thank you card. Set one rose at each place setting, or have them do double duty by creating a bouquet of "roses" in a large vase as the centerpiece.
- Use small colored tulle circles, or cut your own, in white or your wedding colors. Fill the fabric with a handful of bird seed, flower or tree seeds, potpourri, candy, nuts or other small favors. You can make your own mints or small candies using simple recipes found online or in craft stores. Gather the edges of the tulle and tie a ribbon around it, creating an instant packet. You can hot glue silk rose petals around the edges of the tulle before tying it to create a visually appealing decoration out of a simple favor.
- You can always opt for traditional do-it-yourself favors such as homemade cookies or small cupcakes. These can be made a couple of weeks ahead of time and frozen until the big day. Wrap them in cellophane tied with ribbon for the best results.
Make your own bath salts, candles or soaps, or purchase them inexpensively in bulk. Use clear votive candle holders or small plastic champagne glasses decorated with tulle or clear stickers printed with your names and wedding date. Soap can be presented in clear cellophane tied with a ribbon.
Magnets can easily be created using pre-cut magnets the size of traditional business cards. Use a computer to create your design, including a picture of the bride and groom, your names and the wedding date. Create a template to print out multiple business card-sized designs onto sheets of stickers. Cut out the designs and stick them to the magnets. You can present them in ribbon-tied tulle packets for a fancier appearance or place one at each table setting as is.
