Invitation Wording for a Thanksgiving Fundraiser
- 1). Begin with the name of the organization or individual hosting the fundraiser followed by the official statement of invitation. For example, it should read something like "The Regional Dog Walking Society invites you to...."
- 2). Add the title of the event to the statement of invitation. For a Thanksgiving fundraiser, the best title will likely have the word "Thanksgiving" in it somewhere. For example, the title could be "The I Love Dogs Thanksgiving Fundraiser." Including the word "Thanksgiving" in the title of the fundraiser will alert the invitees of the event's theme.
- 3). Write the basic details of the event in list form, rather than in a paragraph. These basic details include the date, time, venue, and event price. Write these details clearly. For example:
Date: Thursday, November 24, 2011
Time: 7:00 pm-12:00 pm
Venue: The Brown Marmot Golf Club
Ticket Price: $10 - 4). Write a blurb about the purpose and nature of the fundraiser. Say what the money that is earned will go toward and why it is an important cause. Discuss the nature of the Thanksgiving holiday and why it is a perfect time for giving. Briefly include any enticing details about the fundraiser, such as a prize turkey draw or a pilgrim costume contest. Place the blurb beneath the basic invitation details.
- 5). Include the RSVP information at the very bottom of the invitation or on a separate card where invitees can check "Attending" or "Not Attending." For separate invitation cards, include a prestamped envelope so invitees can send it back to the host. If the RSVP information is simply listed at the bottom of the invitation, it should include the host's phone number and ask invitees to phone the host if they are attending. If the fundraiser costs money to attend, ask the invitees to include their cash or check in the RSVP card envelope or explain how they can pay at the door.
- 6). Add a Thanksgiving-related quote to the front of the invitation if it is a folded card or on one side of the invitation if it is an unfolded card. Pick a quote that inspires giving and togetherness. For example, John F. Kennedy's quote, "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
