Web Business - What Motivates You?
There are as many things that motivate people as there are people being motivated, but it's easy to lose sight of why we're working, especially if we're working hard.
There is an epidemic of depression in the United States.
There is some consensus that, as psychotherapist Mel Schwartz says, "The way that we live is lacking in meaning and purpose.
Our lives are often visionless and passionless.
" You may think, "That's not me", but if you don't have a firm handle on your motivation, it could be.
Even if you do have a motivation beyond paying your bills, it is easy to fall into this depression, or at least skirt around it's edges.
One way to step beyond those edges, or avoid them all the time, is to revisit your real motivation daily.
For many, this means taking some time to sit down and actually see what motivates you (or, if you can't see what IS motivating you, look at what COULD motivate you.
) Once you have an idea of what that is, take a moment every morning (it only takes a moment) and remind yourself of that wonderful thing.
(And don't let other people tell you what SHOULD motivate you.
That is their motivation, not yours, and may have little or nothing to do with your world.
) We think, if we're motivated, that we only have to "connect" with that motivation once and it will last forever.
We will always be in touch with it.
I love this Zig Ziglar quote: "People often say that motivation doesn't last.
Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily.
" If you find you are just going through the motions of your work, you feel like you've lost your passion or any real notion of why you're doing it, take your daily motivation bath.
We have to remind ourselves, sometimes relentlessly, of, as Dr.
Schwartz said, "our meaning and purpose".
If we are succumbing to the modern epidemic of depression, a vision and passion reinvigoration is in order.
Remember what you really are trying to accomplish, remember how what you're doing will get you there, and then get back to work.
Occasionally, getting back in touch with all this will make you realize you've made an inadvertent turn or two on the path.
Take this daily time to get yourself back on track.
If you need a boost to start doing this, enter what motivates you in the comments below, then remember to remember.
