How to Keep Your Home Clean

    • 1). Wipe down your sinks, countertops and toilets daily. Additionally, pick up any objects from the floor, such as clothing or towels, and place them in the hamper. Wash your dishes daily, which will keep your sink clean and your home smelling fresh.

    • 2). Dust objects in your home once weekly. Rub a soft cloth over your television and top of furniture to remove the dusty layer. Use a polishing spray for extra shine.

    • 3). Wash your bed linens on a weekly basis. Sheets, blankets and pillow cases often harbor germs, which cause an odor to occur. Wash tennis shoes and other sporting equipment regularly as well.

    • 4). Bathe your dog and its bedding regularly. A dog's odor can transmit from the animal to your floors, furniture and linens. Wash the dog to prevent odor, as well as dirt, mud and other materials from being transferred from your dog to your items in your home. Most dogs benefit from a once-a-month bath. Brushing daily can also release odors and materials that can cause the dog to create a foul smell in your home.

    • 5). Shampoo your carpets and rugs. Odors often become trapped in the material, which can make your entire home smell not-so-fresh. Cleaning furniture can also dislodge any trapped odors as well.

How to Keep Your Home Fresh-smelling

    • 1). Open the windows to increase air circulation. Doing so allows fresh air to enter your home and push the old air outside.

    • 2). Change your air filters regularly. Doing so prevents your heating and air system from becoming clogged and also increases the circulation in your home, which can move stale smells out. Use scented filters to give your entire home a nice smell.

    • 3). Run your stove's fan when cooking to absorb food odors. Take out the trash after you have emptied food in the bag and run your garbage disposal immediately after placing food inside. Run lemons through the disposal as well to give it a fresh scent.

    • 4). Clean your home with products that are scented. The smell from the cleaner will permeate through your home and keeping it smelling good.
