One need not spend a lot for gifts during any gift giving occasion. People can cut back on gifts that could cost them an arm and a leg by simply reminding themselves of the old saying "Its the thought that counts". This means for you to find gifts that will mean a lot to the receiver but be less of a burden to your pocket.

If you're on a budget and don't want to spend too much on gifts, don't fret as there are lots of ways to show people you care, yet still be able to show them how much you appreciate them. Here are some tips that will help you ease the burden.

Collect Gifts all Year Round!

Who said you only need to buy gifts when there is an occasion? There are lots of sale events in your local department store where you will find great bargains. Most often, stores go on sale after the major shopping seasons. Don't shop for swimming attire during summer. Try looking for these items during the rainy season or right after summer. Shop for Christmas decor during the lean months of January, that's right after Christmas. Thats the time shop owners are trying to let go of all their inventory to be able to buy new items for the next season. This would mean less hassle as you won't be joining the rush, and definitely this is less expense for you..

If you prefer buying gifts when yo need them, you will always end up spending more. You may need to store these items somewhere for the mean while, but what the heck, you spend a lot less in the process.

A good thing to do once you've started this habit of shopping for gifts and storing them, is to keep an inventory of what yo already have. This way you keep tabs of the items yo have already in store and avoid buying the same thing twice.

Aside form collecting items for gifts, also keep in mind that you will likewise need wrappers when you start giving these away. Keep your eye out as well for good gift wrappers, ribbons and other gift accessories you may come across with. A well wrapped gift is always improves the value of the item being given away. So choose your wrappers and wrap your gifts well!

Personalize!

A gift well thought of is a gift that you know the receiver wants or needs. Its always tempting to give the same gift to a group of people like office mates, buddies, family. Instead, try thinking of what your brother mentioned he's always wanted, what your best friend said lacked in her house, what your officemates favorite coffee brand is.

Also, when choosing gifts bear in mind that a persons most important asset is his name. Try to infuse their name in gifts you give. You could purchase colored glue and place names on basically all items such as mugs, glasses, pens, bags, caps and so on. Putting a personal touch on the gifts you give will bring a smile to whomever you are giving it away to and you cut back on a lot of expense in the process.

Organize!

When going out shopping, always bring a list of people you plan to give gifts to. Never mind if its still 10 months before Christmas! What you have to do is keep track of who's on your list and what you have that you will give them. This will keep you on track of your budget and on track of your gift giving.
